Mother’s day

A mother is she who can take place of all others but whose place no one else can take. She can be educated or uneducated but she is the best guide in the world when you fail in your life. She understands all that you say and also all that you cannot say.

Mother’s day is observed on the second Sunday of May every year.  This year we are celebrating this special day on 12th of May

A mother makes a lot of sacrificesfor her family. She raises her children and shoulders enormous responsibilities. Children tend to take their mothers for granted and get busy in making their careers when they grow up.Although nothing that the children do would be enough torepay their mother’s love, by celebrating this day each of us can remind ourselves one more time that “She is special like no one”.

A mother’s health is often neglected by both herself as well as her children. On this special occasion of Mother’s Day, make her feel special and pledge to take care of her. Motivate your mother to prioritize “her health” so she can also enjoy a healthy and safe life. Help her in getting her health check-ups doneperiodically and be there for her.

Mothers of any age can follow some simple tips to live a healthy life:

  • Add fruits and vegetables to your diet as these provide fibres, essential vitamins, and minerals and also reduce the risk of cancer and chronic diseases.
  • Restrict salt and sugar intake
  • Limit foods and drinks which are high in sugars, calories
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Do simple physical exercises such as dancing, walking for an hour, or running for 30 minutes a day
  • Keep a check on your weight
  • Manage stress and take adequate sleep
  • Get enough calcium and vitamin D so as to reduce the risk of osteoporosis
  • Get your health check-ups done at regular intervals
  • Keep sometime for yourself to engage in some hobby or some other creative activity. It will help in reducing stress
