Ministry of Health and family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India is currently observing Health Week from April 4- April 10 to mark the World Health Day on 7th April 2016. The theme of World Health Day 2016 is Beat diabetes: Scale up prevention, strengthen care, and enhance surveillance. The main objective is to draw the attention of people towards the importance of global health.
As a part of the week long celebrations, MoHFW will be launching several initiatives. Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare announced the implementation of 3rd phase of Mission Indradhanush from 7th April in 217 select districts in 27 States/Union Territories (UTs). There are also plans to launch certain initiatives on diabetes, TB and other communicable and non-communicable diseases.
MoHFW also held a National Consultation workshop on National e-Health Authority (NeHA) at AIIMS, New Delhi on April 4.The main objective of this consultation was to invite comments/suggestions from different stakeholders including States and UTs on setting up of NeHA.
A 2-day National Summit on family planning has been flagged off by Shri JP Nadda as a part of the health week. A revamped logo for family planning and media awareness campaign along with the 360 degree communication plan was introduced to enhance the awareness regarding various issues surrounding family planning in the country. The health minister also launched the new packaging of all contraceptives to increase its uptake and use. NHP Indradhadhush Mobile Application was also launched during this event. This application provides detailed information about vaccines available in India and their schedule.
