International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated every year on 21June worldwide in order to raise awareness of the many benefits of practicing yoga. The day is organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations (UN). Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.
This year IDY comes in the middle of a health emergency when lifestyle of people across the world has changed. Working from home, home schooling of children and lack of physical contact with friends and others have become new realities of life. But at a time like this, it’s very important for people of all ages and abilities to be as active as possible. Yoga practice on regular basis is an opportunity to promote physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of an individual.
The theme for year 2021 is “Yoga for well-being”. It focuses that how the practice of Yoga can promote the holistic health of every individual.

Yoga benefits the overall health of an individual. It promotes physical and mental well-being, hence, psychosocially can help to fight anxiety, isolation and depression
AYUSH Ministry, Government of India has launched a mobile app Namaste Yoga ( Download App ) where users may get the location of nearby studios and schedule yoga classes.
