16 October
World Food Day (WFD) is observed each year on 16 October to celebrate the founding of the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in 1945. The aim of celebrating this day is to promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger worldwide and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.
Some facts:
Leave NO ONE behind
World food day 2022 is facing multiple global challenges including the ongoing pandemic, international conflict and war, climate change, population migration. All these situations are resulting into rising prices and disturbed food supply and distribution. We can say that WFD 2022 comes at a critical moment for global food security. Too many people have been left behind.
WFD2022 with the theme Leave NO ONE behind is a call for us all to work together and create a better, more sustainable world where everyone, everywhere has regular access to enough nutritious food.
No one should be left behind.
